(Apple Picking, Homestead Farms. Hiking the Billy Goat Trail at Great Falls)
Cool weather means apple picking and hiking.
The problem with apple picking is that you end up with a ton of apples. And, if you're me, those apples turn into apple chips.
I am currently on batch Number Three of apple chips. They're ridiculously easy - slice apples very thin, lay them on a parchment lined baking sheet, stick them in the oven at 175 degrees. Leave them there for 3-4 hours. 100% apples. They don't need sugar, promise.
They're delicious, so I eat them fast and then I want to explode. Because I basically just ingested 2 apples in under 3 minutes. Which should lead me to think, "Hey, let's not eat 2 apples in under 3 minutes, Kelly. No bueno." But instead it led me to impulse purchase a mandolin slicer on the internet at 11:00 pm, so I can make perfectly thin sliced apple chips. Which will invariably be delicious. And the cycle will repeat itself.
