Morning Routine


I've been reading bon appétit magazine's series where they ask people to share their morning routine.  RedEyes, Kombucha, Oatmeal, you name it.

Mornings for me generally mean yogurt and coffee at my desk (poached eggs on the weekends, you blessed little pockets of runny yolk).  Which is decently healthy, but I still feel pangs of shame reading that others have vegan smoothies, quinoa cereal or low-octane green tea.

But then I read Erik Peterson's routine.  He arrives at the office "at exactly 8:45-11am" (he will have spent a long while choosing a color Gatorade, not cooking since he lives "in the shadow of a roach army" and maybe smoking the shower) and scarfs down a hot dog.  Maybe it's gross, but I feel very inspired by his honesty.   Inspired to put away my yogurt, bundle up in my coat, walk down the block and order one of the most glorious things on earth: an everything bagel with cream cheese.

  2. My routine is pretty standard: coffee, toast & yogurt. When I do go crazy and order fancy coffee or a pastry, I don't feel TOO bad about it. But vegan smoothies and quinoa cereal every day?? I don't think I could do that!

  3. My routine has turned into a coffee and a green smoothie, but an everything bagel with cream cheese sounds flipping fantastic right about now. So, I'm going got eat some chocolates!
